Sherganj is a small village of 195 hectares in Indragarh Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sherganj depends on INDRAGARH, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 5.50% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Sherganj is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Sherganj's pin code is 323614[3], and village code is 02732900. The area of Sherganj is segregated as 71.92 hectares irrigated area, 40.34 hectares unirrigated, the 16.94 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 45.54 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sherganj has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Sherganj is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 423 and has total administration over 100 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Sherganj has 54 children, 25 boys and 29 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 21 (4.96%) males constitute 10 (2.36%) of the population and females 11 (2.60%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 354 (83.69%) males constitute 181 (42.79%) of the population and females 173 (40.90%).

The workforce is 104 male, 116 female with 84 (38.18%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 57 males and 27 females. 43 males and 18 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 5 male and 7 female agricultural labor. 136 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of INDRAGARH and Bundi to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
