Shergarh is a small village of 2187 hectares in Masuda Tehsil in Ajmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Shergarh depends on Vijainagar, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 211.23% of the total supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Shergarh is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Shergarh's pin code is 305623[4], and village code is 02545400. The area of Shergarh is segregated as 211.23 hectares irrigated area, 1066.02 hectares unirrigated, the 509.13 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 400.2 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Shergarh has One post office (Shergarh B.O) and Fifteen public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Shergarh has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Demographics[edit]

Shergarh is a census village in the district of Ajmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3741 and has total administration over 750 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Shergarh has 656 children, 339 boys and 317 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 432 (11.55%) males constitute 228 (6.09%) of the population and females 204 (5.45%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 124 (3.31%) males constitute 57 (1.52%) of the population and females 67 (1.79%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2011 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1066 male, 945 female with 1774 (88.21%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 989 males and 785 females. 620 males and 432 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 166 male and 266 female agricultural labor. 237 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Vijainagar and Ajmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
