Shimla is a small village of 928 hectares in Khetri Tehsil in Jhunjhunu district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Shimla depends on NARNAUL (HARYANA), the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 238.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Shimla is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Shimla's pin code is 332746[4], and village code is 00731200. The area of Shimla is segregated as 238 hectares irrigated area, 562 hectares unirrigated, the 82 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 46 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Shimla has One post office (Shimala S.O) and Ten public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Shimla has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Shimla is a census village in the district of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 5551 and has total administration over 1093 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Shimla has 633 children, 366 boys and 267 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 665 (11.98%) males constitute 345 (6.22%) of the population and females 320 (5.76%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 6 (0.11%) males constitute 4 (0.07%) of the population and females 2 (0.04%).

According to a census 2011 report, 2276 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1353 male, 923 female with 1366 (60.02%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1023 males and 343 females. 502 males and 240 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 14 male and 6 female agricultural labor. 910 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of NARNAUL (HARYANA) and Jhunjhunu to sell earthen pot and make their living.
