Shray Goel (born September 30, 1988) is an American real estate investor, builder, entrepreneur, mental health advocator, and a technology founder. He is also the founder of a multi-state real estate investment company that provides housing to corporate travelers throughout the United States.[1][2]
Goel is a certified Agile Scrum Master and Project Management Professional and has vast experience in working with various companies in technology project and product management, developing user interfaces, mobile applications, and server configurations.
Goel was born on September 30, 1988, in Calabasas, California. He attended the El Camino Real High School and Van Nuys High School. He also went to the Malibu Hindu Temple and learned about Hinduism through cultural classes.
Since his early days, Goel was interested in entrepreneurship, technology, and human psychology, owing to which he took multiple advanced courses in economics, maths, and psychology, appeared on several tests, and scored 5/5. During his high school, Goel completed two architectural and engineering internships with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Public Works. The internship involved using tools like ARC GIS to map city water supplies. After completing high school, Goel attended the UCBC technology management program.
He earned his bachelor’s in economics and technology management from the University of California Santa Barbara. During graduation, he attended multiple workshops and classes and learned about clinical approaches to trauma, drugs, and addiction.
Goel drew his inclination towards startups and entrepreneurship after attending the Y Combinator Demo Day.
After completing graduation, Goel immediately got a job in the technology sector as a quality assurance analyst for THQ Video Games. During his tenure at the company, Goel was responsible for testing software for bugs, and development prioritization, and learned about the importance of user interface from a gamification perspective.
After THQ, Goel joined ReachLocal Inc as a Technology project manager. He traveled across 20 countries, working with various user interface teams. He engaged in developing the perfect pixel designs and incorporating the best practices for internal and external interfaces. Goel also worked on developing a mobile application and upgraded the company’s internal reporting application. While working at ReachLocal, Goel also became a Scrum-certified project manager.
After ReachLocal, Goel took up a job at Dun and Bradstreet as a project manager. He worked with the system administration team and mobile development team, rolling out server configurations and mobile applications to external software respectively. During his tenure at Dun and Bradstreet, Goel undertook a PMP certification course and became a certified project management professional.
Soon after Dun and Bradstreet, Goel established his own company, Milwaukee Corporate Rentals LLC. He initially conceived the business idea by getting across Airbnb and hence, the company initially started as a side business. Goel began by sharing his own apartment with corporate travelers on short-term rental sites. Soon he began managing beachfront homes for local Los Angeles coastal owners throughout Malibu, Venice Beach, and Marina Del Rey. soon the business acquired pace and visibility through word of mouth and positive reviews. The business that started as a side hustle quickly grew into a multi-state property management company. Soon the company entered Chicago, Austin, and Nashville. During the Covid 19 Pandemic, the lockdown severely affected the company’s business, taking it as an opportunity, Goel started renting his sites to traveling medical professionals and soon gained popularity in the healthcare sector as well. He has served clients at prestigious California medical facilities such as Rady Children's Hospital, University of California San Diego Medical Center, and Scripps Mercy Hospital. Today, Milwaukee is a multimillion-dollar corporate housing company providing travel accommodations and has a team of 15 people in 5 different countries, managing over 60 rental units in 8 different states.
Goel has been featured in several news publications and magazines and has been a guest on various podcasts. He writes about investing strategies, mental health, and financial technologies.
Goel currently resides in Miami, Florida, and in his free time enjoys writing, Sailing, boating, fishing, snowboarding, surfing, and hiking. He is also a certified scuba diver.
Apart from his professional and entrepreneurial career, Goel is passionate about mental health. He has read books on trauma, depression, and mental health. He has gained knowledge of the subject by reading several best-selling books such as The Body Keeps The Score,[3] The Ketamine Papers: Science,[4] Therapy, and Transformation, and Self-Care Prescription Solutions.
He is an active donor to various multidisciplinary associations for Psychedelic studies and mental health advocacy groups. He gained insights on the issues of multi-generational trauma and the importance of developing daily habits with regard to maintaining positive mental health.
