Sonasar is a small village of 1660 hectares in Jhunjhunu Tehsil in Jhunjhunu district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sonasar depends on Jhunjhunu, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 300.25% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Sonasar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Sonasar's pin code is 333011[4], and village code is 00679600. The area of Sonasar is segregated as 300.25 hectares irrigated area, 1194 hectares unirrigated, the 135 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 31 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sonasar has One post office (Sonasar B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Sonasar has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Sonasar is a census village in the district of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3334 and has total administration over 599 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Sonasar has 462 children, 263 boys and 199 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 928 (27.83%) males constitute 492 (14.76%) of the population and females 436 (13.08%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 91 (2.73%) males constitute 44 (1.32%) of the population and females 47 (1.41%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 1610 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 761 male, 849 female with 1430 (88.82%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 724 males and 706 females. 376 males and 485 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 78 male and 70 female agricultural labor. 180 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jhunjhunu to sell wood furniture and make their living.
