Sonkhar (Rural) is a small village of 843 hectares in Kathumar Tehsil in Alwar district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sonkhar (Rural) depends on KHERLI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Sonkhar (Rural) is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Sonkhar (Rural)'s pin code is 321606[4], and village code is 00952000. The area of Sonkhar (Rural) is segregated as 642 hectares irrigated area, 62 hectares unirrigated, the 36 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 103 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Sonkhar (Rural) is a census village in the district of Alwar, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 7901 and has total administration over 1346 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Scheduled caste counts for 2442 (30.91%) males constitute 1313 (16.62%) of the population and females 1129 (14.29%).

The workforce is 2135 male, 1452 female with 2043 (56.96%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1882 males and 161 females. 550 males and 47 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 314 male and 51 female agricultural labor. 1544 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of KHERLI and Alwar to sell earthen pot and make their living.
