Soran is a small village of 430 hectares in Tonk Tehsil in Tonk district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Soran depends on Tonk, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 20.31% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Soran is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Soran's pin code is 304001[4], and village code is 02639000. The area of Soran is segregated as 65.02 hectares irrigated area, 178.01 hectares unirrigated, the 159.99 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 26.98 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Soran has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Soran is a census village in the district of Tonk, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 867 and has total administration over 164 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Soran has 173 children, 73 boys and 100 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 306 (35.29%) males constitute 146 (16.84%) of the population and females 160 (18.45%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 178 (20.53%) males constitute 86 (9.92%) of the population and females 92 (10.61%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 416 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 208 male, 208 female with 286 (68.75%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 165 males and 121 females. 118 males and 87 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 12 male and 15 female agricultural labor. 130 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Tonk to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
