Surwan is a small village of 719 hectares in Kushalgarh Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Surwan depends on Kushalgarh, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Surwan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Surwan's pin code is 327801[4], and village code is 03517600. The area of Surwan is segregated as 146 hectares irrigated area, 110 hectares unirrigated, the 11 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 219 hectare area not available for cultivation.

The village is connected with a single bus service. Surwan has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Surwan is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1346 and has total administration over 264 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Surwan has 275 children, 140 boys and 135 girls.
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 1340 (99.55%) males constitute 672 (49.93%) of the population and females 668 (49.63%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 715 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 348 male, 367 female with 505 (70.63%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 261 males and 244 females. 207 males and 199 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 46 male and 42 female agricultural labor. 210 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Kushalgarh and Banswara to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
