Tamika L. Tremaglio

Tamika L. Tremaglio (born July 12, 1970) is the current executive director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).^[1] Tremaglio was selected by the players to replace Michele A. Roberts on September 22, 2021,^[2] and officially stepped into the role upon Roberts’ retirement in early January 2022.^[3]

Prior to joining the NBPA as executive director, Tremaglio, who retired from Deloitte LLP, served as the Managing Principal for Deloitte’s Greater Washington offices where she managed over 15,000 professionals across 17 offices that provided market-leading audit, tax, advisory, and consulting services.^[4]

Early life and education[edit]

Tremaglio was born on July 12, 1970, in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, to Pamela A. Langley and Herman M. Hawkins, Sr. Tremaglio earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount St. Mary's University in Business & Finance in 1992.^[5] She received her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law in December, 1995, and an MBA from the University of Baltimore in December, 1995.^[6]

Career[edit]

Tremaglio started her career at KPMG LLP in February of 1996, where she spent one year in the tax practice before transferring into the forensic and litigation services group. Tremaglio rose through the ranks and was promoted to Director in 2003 before leaving KPMG to build Huron Consulting Group's Washington, DC practice.^[7]

In the seven years Tremaglio spent at Huron, she held several leadership positions, including serving as Managing Director in the firm’s Accounting and Financial Consulting Practice from 2003-2005, Greater Washington Managing Partner from 2005-2008, and National Practice Leader of the Accounting and Finance Consulting Practice from 2008-2010.

Upon her departure from Huron, Tremaglio joined Deloitte Financial Advisory LLP (“Deloitte”) in November 2010 as a Principal in the Forensic Disputes & Investigations practice. At Deloitte, Tremaglio built a thriving practice. She advised a diverse range of clients on high-profile matters relating to strategy development, corporate governance, talent management, organizational alignment, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Tremaglio held several leadership positions at Deloitte in both the business and talent areas of the firm before she was appointed Managing Principal for the Greater Washington Area in 2017, a position she held until she retired and joined the NBPA as executive director.^[8]

A frequent speaker on issues related to leadership, corporate governance, talent development, and corporate social responsibility, Tremaglio has been an outspoken advocate for issues relating to inclusion, authenticity and the role mentoring plays in building successful organizational cultures.^[9]

Honors[edit]

Tremaglio was named Managing Partner of the Year in 2019 by the Washington Business Journal^[10] and was selected as one of Washington’s 150 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and 2021 by the Washingtonian (magazine).^[11][12]

In 2020, Tremaglio received the Triple-Impact Executive Award from the Positive Coaching Alliance for her community leadership and commitment to youth development, college preparedness, and STEM education in the Washington DC area.^[13]

Tremaglio is married to Gregory A. Tremaglio and has two sons.^[19] She is Catholic and has been a longtime member of St. Peter Claver’s Church in St Inigoes, Maryland.^[20]
