Tarnau is a small village of 2921 hectares in Jayal Tehsil in Nagaur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Tarnau depends on Mundwa, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 568.64% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Tarnau is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Tarnau's pin code is 341001[4], and village code is 01794600. The area of Tarnau is segregated as 665.76 hectares irrigated area, 1748.13 hectares unirrigated, the 333.45 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 173.68 hectare area not available for cultivation.
Tarnau has One post office (Nagaur H.O) and Fifty public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Tarnau has One bank and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Tarnau is a census village in the district of Nagaur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 5544 and has total administration over 1032 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

According to a census 2011 report, 2903 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1562 male, 1341 female with 1870 (64.42%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1092 males and 778 females. 712 males and 655 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 109 male and 95 female agricultural labor. 1033 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Mundwa and Nagaur to sell ghee and make their living.
