Tekla is a small village of 209 hectares in Ghatol Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Tekla depends on Banswara, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, One canal and Two springs. Tekla is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Tekla's pin code is 327001[4], and village code is 03402700. The area of Tekla is segregated as 128 hectares irrigated area, 45 hectares unirrigated, the 14 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 22 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Tekla has One public telephone. Tekla has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Tekla is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 646 and has total administration over 135 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Tekla has 117 children, 69 boys and 48 girls.
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 645 (99.85%) males constitute 326 (50.46%) of the population and females 319 (49.38%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 418 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 198 male, 220 female with 314 (75.12%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 162 males and 152 females. 114 males and 136 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 16 male and 10 female agricultural labor. 104 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Banswara to sell rope and make their living.
