“Territorial Pissings” is a song by the American rock band Nirvana from their 1991 album Nevermind. The song’s intro features a rare occasion, Krist Novoselic singing. This would never happen again.
The song was recorded in almost one take, unlike Lithium.[1] At the end of the session, Kurt speared an amplifier and Grohl knocked over his drum kit. Each member wore their favorite band on a t-shirt, Kurt wore his homemade Flipper t-shirt, Grohl wore a Melvins t-shirt and Novoselic wore a L7 t-shirt.[2]
The opening of the song is lifted from a sixties song called Get Together[3]
Far Out Magazine said it was a “punk-tinged rave-up”.[4] Adrian Torres of Allmusic said is was "fast and furious punk in pure form"[5]
The song was a favorite ending for Nirvana. And they played the song live constantly at the end.[6]
