Theatrico Productions Ltd. (commonly referred to as "Theatrico") is a semi-professional theatrical production company operating from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.[1][2], providing young actors and actresses with promising potential the opportunities to be part of stage productions in professional theatres, giving them first contact with the world of professional theatre, and providing those with exceptional potential the chance to liaise with scouting organisations[3]. The company was founded 26th August 2022 by Alexander Jones, who remains the company's President[4].

Theatrico has a membership of approximately 20 young members, and 5 members of staff. Most recently, the company produced a production of a theatrical adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, which was performed 10th June 2023[5]. This was performed at the new performing arts centre at Kingham Hill School, and sold out of tickets.

Theatrico owns a subsidiary company, Theatrico Extra Ltd.[6], which hires out the company's staff, equipment, and consultants to schools, amateur dramatic societies and professionals in the local area[7].

Membership[edit]

Theatrico charges an annual membership fee on its members. In order to promote its status as a non-profit company, the membership fee is calculated in to cover necessary business expenditures only.

Theatrico's membership fee is currently £18 per annum, which was set October 2022.

Production Cycles[edit]

Theatrico runs two "production cycles" per year. The first production cycle ran from January - June 2023, performing Murder on the Orient Express[8].

Each production cycle begins with a General Meeting of the Company Membership, where constitutional amendments are voted on. Additionally, the production for the cycle is also decided by the membership.[9]

The production cycle runs for approximately 20 weeks, during which productions are rehearsed. Theatrico has an ongoing agreement with Kingham Parish Council to run their rehearsals in Kingham Village Hall on Saturday mornings[10].

Officers[edit]

The President of Theatrico Productions Ltd. is an elected office. The Presidential term begins on 1st September of any given year, and terminates one year later. The President is elected by the membership after a vetting process of candidates conducted by seniors of the company. It is generally accepted that the President retains executive control of the company. Theatrico's constitutional documents govern the specific powers of the President.

Members will also elect the Vice President of Theatrico Productions Ltd. during the Autumn General Meeting. The Vice President is subject to the same term of office as the President, and becomes the President temporarily if the President cannot exercise their office.

Four additional members are elected to the Council of Theatrico which, together with the President and Vice President, hold monthly meetings to determine company matters and procedures.

Production Contributions[edit]

Members will be expected to pay an additional fee to contribute for the costs of running each production. The production contribution for Murder on the Orient Express ranged from £6 to £15.

Connections[edit]

Theatrico endeavours to retain its connections with its clients, usually school in the local area. Theatrico retains a connection with Kingham Hill School through shared membership. Other services have been provided to Tudor Hall School, Chipping Norton School, The Chipping Norton Music Festival, and Kingham Primary School[11]
