Torna is a small village of 405 hectares in Garhi Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Torna depends on Banswara, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Torna is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Torna's pin code is 327021[4], and village code is 03408400. The area of Torna is segregated as 38 hectares irrigated area, 57 hectares unirrigated, the 86 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 125 hectare area not available for cultivation.

The village is connected with a single bus service. Torna has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Torna is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1361 and has total administration over 269 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Torna has 199 children, 109 boys and 90 girls.
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 1052 (77.30%) males constitute 534 (39.24%) of the population and females 518 (38.06%).

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Banswara to sell ghee and make their living.
