Trikona is an upcoming Indian Kannada language film, written by Rajashekhar and directed by Chandrakantha. This high-octane action thriller is being produced under the banner Police Praki Production and is slated for a 2020 release. The film upholds the importance of patience in one's life, it in fact highlights it as a virtue, which is crucial to success. While the crux of the film is interesting in itself, its other stand out factor is the screenplay. The film has been made in three South Indian languages[1] –Kannada, Telugu and Tamil Gosulu and each version comes with a different screenplay,[2] which is a first of its kind experiment[3][4] in Indian cinema. While the start and climax of the film are the same, the storyline[5] in between is different in each of these languages.[6] What comes as an added advantage is the stellar star cast. Veteran actors Lakshmi, Suresh Heblikar, Sudharani and Achyuth Kumar play pivotal roles in the film.

Plot[edit]

Patience is a virtue that not everyone is blessed with. If anything it is that something which comes to test most often than not. Like in real life, the reel characters of this film are also faced with situations where their patience is put to test. However, as the story unfolds, it is established how it is patience and not hostility, anger, anxiety or fear that helps one overcome challenging circumstances in one's life.[7] The flick through its diverse characters and intriguing plot also drives home the point that experience is a good teacher. Ups and downs are common in everyone's life, but those who are able to face the good, bad and ugly head on by circumventing ego, greed, arrogance and misery, are those who will thrive is what the film sets out to tell, in the film, as plot was explained by director in a press meet.

Cast[edit]

  • Suresh Heblikar as Natraj
  • Lakshmi as Parvati
  • Achyuth Kumar as Kodandrama
  • Sudharani as Seetha
  • Sadhu Kokila as Sangliyana
  • Marutesh as Kaala
  • Rajveer as Trivikrama

Production[edit]

The director-writer duo started the conceptualization, scripting and execution process of ‘Trikona’ in the year 2018. An approximate of 4 crore rupees has been spent on the production. The film has been mostly shot in outdoor locations. The coastal belt of Karnataka, specifically Mangalore, provides the canvas for the film. You can get glimpses of Udupi and Western Ghats too. Parts of the movie have been shot in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well. 15% of the film has been shot using graphics. Given the current pandemic situation, the makers are considering an OTT[8][9] release of the film. Earlier this year, the team released a motion poster.

Soundtrack[edit]

The album contains 4 songs. Award-winning music composer Surendranath B R has churned out tracks for the film. Director Chandrakantha has penned the lyrics for all the songs. Shivam of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame has sung a song for the film. Another specialty of this music album is that one of the songs has been shot in the backdrop of the cinematically less explored Koodlu Teertha falls. Charmadi and Shiradi Ghat also make their presence felt in the songs. This apart, in a scene where main characters are listening to a radio programme.

Trivia[edit]

Bodybuilder Mr. India Marutesh, plays Kaala, the antagonist, in the film. His look as a savage man with bow, arrow and ropes tied to him, is something to watch out for. Much attention has been paid to the design and construction of the vehicle, he drives around in the film. While action films are a treat to watch, shooing for the same can be quite demanding.
