Umrach is a small village of 345 hectares in Bundi Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Umrach depends on BUNDI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, One canal and Two springs. Umrach is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Umrach's pin code is 323001[3], and village code is 02758900. The area of Umrach is segregated as 3.74 hectares unirrigated, the 31.24 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 26.53 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Umrach has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Umrach is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1021 and has total administration over 185 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Umrach has 168 children, 92 boys and 76 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 266 (26.05%) males constitute 144 (14.10%) of the population and females 122 (11.95%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 80 (7.84%) males constitute 42 (4.11%) of the population and females 38 (3.72%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 464 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 291 male, 173 female with 300 (64.66%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 242 males and 58 females. 138 males and 36 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 29 male and 2 female agricultural labor. 164 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Bundi to sell juggery and make their living.
