Vagurbem is a small village of 359 hectares in Ponda Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Vagurbem depends on CURTI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Vagurbem is also surrounded by Two lakes. They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of CURTI and North Goa to sell coconuts and make their living.
