Vangelis Polydorou (born Vangelis Polydorou - Evangelou; June 2, 1994) is a British singer, songwriter and television personality. Polydorou rose to fame in 2016, when he auditioned for The Voice UK. Vangelis Polydorou became a Finalist on season 5 of The Voice UK. After the show, he started his professional musical career and has worked extensively with Boy George and Culture Club. Vangelis Polydorou is currently managed and signed by Boy George.[1][2][3]
Vangelis Polydorou-Evangelou also known as Vangelis Poly was born in North London, Islington on June 2nd 1994. He is half Scottish and half Greek Cypriot. Vangelis attended St Joseph’s Primary School in Highgate, London. He visited Finchley Catholic high school for his secondary education. Thereafter, he completed a one year vocal diploma at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. After completing his studies, Vangelis worked part-time in a handmade frozen food shop known as Cook before being scouted for The Voice.[4][5][6]
In 2016, Vangelis Polydorou auditioned for the fifth series of The Voice UK with Culture Clubs’, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me. Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson turned their chairs for him. He chose to join Boy George’s team. At the battles, he sang “One” by Mary J Blige and U2 against fellow team member Mellisa Cavanagh. At the Knockouts Vangelis sang Always On My Mind by Elvis Presley and was chosen with Cody Frost and Harry Fisher to advance to the live shows. In the quarter finals he sang Here Comes The Rain Again by the Eurthymics. In The Semi Finals he sang Beautiful by Christina Aguilera and Victims with Mentor Boy George where his time on the voice came to an end.[7][8]

Following The Voice UK, Boy George signed Vangelis Polydorou to his record label BGP (Boy George Presents) and is currently managing him. He has also toured with Boy George and Culture Club singing background vocals on their 80 date Life Tour in 2018 with appearances on The Graham Norton Show, The James Corden Show and also The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Vangelis Polydorou is currently working on his debut album with BGP records.[9][10]
