Victoria Kann is an award-winning author, illustrator, and artist. She is known for illustrating and co-writing Pinkalicious, a New York Times bestselling children’s book.
Victoria was raised in Brooklyn, New York. She went on to graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design, and now teaches collage illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.[1] She is the mother of two girls, whose love of the color pink inspired her to write Pinkalicious.[2]
Pinkalicious was on the New York Times bestseller list for over 100 days. This book has also been sold more than 24 million times globally.[3] Kann also wrote and illustrated Goldilicious, Silverlicious, Aqualicious, and Purplicious, Emeraldalicious, and Peterrific.[4] Kann illustrates this book series using a collage style. She creates a collage for each illustration, and then edits her collages in photoshop. When creating her collages, she uses paper, ceramics, fabrics, and mosaics, among other materials.[3]
Along with illustrating children’s books, Victoria also designs magazine covers, designs book covers, creates 2D and 3D art, and even served as the co-executive producer of the Pinkalicious & Peterrific TV show on PBS kids. [1]
The following is a list of awards that Kann has received for her artwork: [1]
Kann has stated that “the best compliment [I] ever received from a Pinkalicious fan was, ‘I learned to read with your books.’” Kann has also stated that she loves all colors in the rainbow and cupcakes. [2]
