Winnie Irmgard Odinga[1][2][3][4] (born March 6,1990) popularly known as Kazi, a nick name she was given by her family and friends due to her industrious nature and love for work, she was named after

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela wife to Nelson Mandela former South African President. She is a Communications Expert, an Entrepreneur, an Afro-Optimist and a Kenyan politician who is currently serving as an East African Community member of Parliament in the fifth East African Legislative Assembly in Arusha representing the Government of Kenya[5][6]

She was nominated[7] to the regional legislative assembly (EALA), by the Orange Democratic Movement[8] political party in November 2022[9] [10] from where she was elected by both houses of the National Assembly (Kenya) Parliament.[11]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Winnie is the last born daughter to the former Prime minister of Kenya Raila Odinga and Dr. Ida Odinga

and the granddaughter to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who was a Luo (Kenya) chieftain who became a prominent figure in Kenya's struggle for independence, and later served as Kenya's first Vice-President of Kenya.

She attended Rusinga School[12] for her Primary education and Brookhouse School [13]for her Secondary Education in Lang'ata, Nairobi County, Her first degree was awarded by Drexel University from where she studied Communication with a focus on Public Relations and International Studies with a focus on International Business and Economics.

After she finished college, she came back to Nairobi where she did an Master of Business Administration at United States International University Africa[14]. She is also a self-taught Photographer, Writer, Rapping, and Poet.

Experience and other achievements[edit]

Her interests include basketball, riding bikes, and travelling. She played for the Kenya Junior Basketball Women’s team in high school, where she played the centre position. She played for the team because they selected her based on her talent and was also the youngest on the team.

Winnie is largely involved in girl child mentorship through sports, and a very strong believer in Civil Rights and Social action, Empowerment, Equality in education, Human rights, Poverty reduction alleviation and Social justice|Social justice.

She is the Founder & CEO of The BrickHouse Counsel[15] which is аn African, Data driven marketing, Strategic communication Consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. this was done after leading an integrated communications campaigns for social, political and corporate entities across Africa.

With a wealth of knowledge in people & communication, she is committed to strategic communication that is targeted, attention grabbing and aspirational for African youth.

She has worked in five different Presidential campaign around the African continent doing Communication Strategies and Branding (promotional)[16]
