Rabbi Beasley draws heavily on the traditional rationalist Jewish sources in his thought and approach to Tanakh. He is influenced by earlier rabbis such as the Rambam and Abarbanel, also citing the Radak, Shadal and contemporary Tanakh scholars like Rabbi Alex Israel, Rabbi Elchanan Samet, Rabbi Yaaqov Medan, Dr. Yael Ziegler and Rabbi Michael Hattin.
