This site is used to accumulate student created resources relating to relationships between a number of chronic disease states and exercise/physical activity.
This unit aims to develop the clinical decision making processes, knowledge and skills necessary for effective assessment and treatment of patients with metabolic conditions. Students will evaluate the pathophysiology and functional consequences of metabolic conditions including obesity, dyslipidaemias, impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes mellitus. The unit will also consider cancers that can be modulated through exercise. Students will examine management strategies for the patient following typical interventions and the role of exercise in the prevention, management and treatment of these conditions will be scrutinised.
