Fluid Dynamics of Fibrous Structures

From Wikiversity - Reading time: 1 min

Fluid flow through fibrous structure is a critical topic for students of textile engineering. They encounter various types of fluid flows of practical significance in their professional life. Dyeing of yarn and woven media, cleaning and washing of cloth, air flow through nonwoven filter media, non-newtonian flow of polymer during fiber extrusion are some examples of fluid flow involving fibrous structures. Course involves basics of fluid mechanics, introduction to porous media flow, air flow through fibrous structure, liquid flow through fibrous structure, absorbency of fibrous structure and special topics.our

Course is designed for graduate level textile engineering students but any one who is interested to learn transport phenomenon involving fibrous structure should benefit from this course. Basic mathematics, calculus, algebra and prior knowledge of fluid mechanics is recommended.
