Arcadius (full name: Imperator Caesar Flavius Arcadius Augustus;[1] AD 377 – AD 408) was Roman Emperor of the East from AD 383 to AD 408. Arcadius ruled with his father Theodosius I until his death in AD 395 and he ruled with his brother in the West, Honorius until he himself died in AD 408. Arcadius as Emperor tried to assert his independence but he was unable to do so effectively. He was under the influence of powerful Government Officials throughout his reign which made him a puppet Emperor. Arcadius was a Pious Christian and passed laws against Pagans, Judaism and Heresy.
