Amyloidosis

Amyloidosis is when an abnormal protein called amyloid builds up in your tissues and organs. When it does, it affects their shape and how they work. Amyloidosis can affect the heart, kidneys, intestines, joints, liver, nerves, skin, and other soft tissues. Symptoms can include irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, chest pain, and low blood pressure. If your kidneys are affected, you may experience swelling in your legs due to fluid buildup (edema) or foamy urine from excess protein. If your liver is affected, you may experience pain and swelling in the upper part of your abdomen.
