Danish pianist; born at Aarhus, Jutland, Oct. 16, 1845; brother of Frits Hartvigson. He studied under Neupert and Tausig. After appearing in several concerts in Copenhagen he went to London, where for ten years he was professor of music at the Royal Normal College for the Blind, and where he gave important annual recitals. He resides (1903) in Copenhagen, where he gives annually a series of lectures on the chief works of pianoforte composition. ln 1900 the King of Denmark conferred on him the title of "Royal Professor."
