Betta

From Conservapedia

Betta is a genus of small freshwater fishes from Southeast Asia. They are often kept in aquariums.

The best known species is Betta splendens, sometimes called the Siamese fighting fish because two males that encounter each other will fight. Domesticated varieties are known for their bright colors, typically red or blue, and the long fins on the males. They are easily cared for and can live in small spaces. However, two male bettas should never be placed in the same tank; even a fish that can be mistaken for a male betta can be in peril.[1]
