Helez

From Jewish Encyclopedia (1906)

Helez ( ):

1. One of David's thirty guards, and captain for the seventh month of the service of the Temple; an Ephraimite (II Sam. xxiii. 26; I Chron. xi. 27, xxvii. 10). In the first passage he is called "the Paltite," in the last two "the Pelonite." Kennicott ("Dissertation," pp. 183 et seq. ) thinks the latter the correct form. 2. A man of Judah, and a descendant of the family of Hezron (I Chron. ii. 39).
