Ned Brooks

Ned Brooks (1898-1965) was an American broadcast journalist who is best known for his work as moderator of Meet the Press, a weekly interview program. He served fifteen years (1953-1965) as the second moderator of the hugely popular show.[1]

After Brooks graduated from Ohio State University, he worked as managing editor of Ohio newspaper, the Scripps-Howard. In 1932, he moved to Washington, D.C. to become the newspaper chain's political correspondent. Brooks began to work for NBC in 1953, when he served as moderator of the networks radio broadcast, Three Star Extra.[2] Before taking the position of moderator of Meet the Press, he frequently appeared as a panelist. In 1965, he was forced to retire from broadcasting because of illness. Brooks died at the age of sixty-seven in 1969.
