My name is Tri Ngo, I'm running for Oakland City Council in District 1. I was born in a refugee camp, grew up in a working class family, went to public schools, graduated from MIT, earned my PhD from Johns Hopkins, and eventually became an engineer at Tesla to fight climate change.

  • I will implement a holistic solution for homelessness with a path toward permanent housing. Learn more about the CampAssist plan at https://www.votetri.com/homelessness.html
  • I will drive the creation of affordable housing to help keep Oakland diverse and accessible to its residents.
  • We need to reimagine Community Safety by shifting from armed policing to funding services that promote peace in our communities.

I am passionate about policies that keep our democracy true.

Fostering civic engagement and preserving our community are an important part of my motivations to run for Oakland Councilmember. Accountability and transparency form the backbone of my campaign.

I am pushing for an online voting platform to enable you to weigh in on council measures and hold the government accountable. I have also adopted a $35 limit for donors to ensure the Oakland we create is one of love and belonging and gives an equal voice to all.
