Dortmund

Dortmund is a city of the Ruhr conurbation in Nord Rhein-Westfalen, western Germany, and has a population of 586,000 (2006). As well as coal and iron and steel production, it is a noted centre of the brewing industry, and is active in developing hi-tech industries.

Dortmund is twinned with the northern English city of Leeds.
