Barton Jennings "Bart" Gordon (born January 24, 1949) is a U.S. Representative from Tennessee's 6th congressional district and member of the Democratic Party. He currently serves as chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology.

First elected in 1984 after Al Gore gave up his House seat to run for the United States Senate, Gordon has never faced a tough reelection, with the exception of 1994 where he won by 1-percentage point. A Blue Dog Democrat, Gordon supported repealing the marriage penalty and estate tax. However, he sided with Barack Obama in suppot for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act [1] and voted for cap and trade climate legislation.[2]

On December 14, 2009 Gordon announced that he would not seek reelection in 2010. A Public Opinion Strategies poll showed him trailing in a head-to-head matchup against Republican state senator Jim Tracy. Politico editorialized that "he would have faced one of the toughest races in his career if he stuck around." [3]
