The New York State Bonds for State Highways, Amendment 1, also known as Proposed Amendment No. 1, was on the ballot in New York on November 8, 1955, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. This amendment would have authorized the "legislature to provide for the issuance of state bonds, not exceeding $750,000,000, for state highway and grade crossing elimination purposes."^[1]
