Post-rock is a genre of modern music, first appearing in the mid-1990s but not gaining popularity until 2002. It is defined by its usage of traditional rock instrumentation for creating lengthy and unusual sonic soundscapes and its unusual and changing time signatures. Popular artists include 65daysofstatic, Do Make Say Think, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky.
