Grammar School

From Conservapedia

A grammar school is one of several different types of school in the United Kingdom and other English-speaking countries. In recent times these schools have provided secondary education. The majority require an exam to be passed before a pupil can attend. This results in grammar schools generally having much better exam results than other state schools in that location. However grammar schools fail when it comes to UK government targets such as teenage pregnancy figures and drug use as they are substantially below average compared to other state schools.

Grammar schools were first created in the Dark Ages when it was realised that the art of reading and writing was disappearing. To combat this the first grammar school was set up to teach grammar to boys of high intelligence who also happened to be wealthy and noble. Since then their remit has expanded so that they now teach spelling as well.

Grammar schools are not favoured by the current Labour government because they enable social mobility and make it harder to keep the working classes down and voting for Labour.
