Plano

Skyline of Plano, TX

Plano is a city in Texas, although originally a suburb of Dallas it has grown to be a sizeable city in its own right, with almost 300,000 people.

Ranking among the most conservative American cities[edit]

It is fifth in the list of most conservative American cities.[1]

However, recent relocations of liberal Californians (seeking to escape the results of their liberal policies, yet voting the same way upon relocation) have turned Plano (and Collin County in general) into a much less reliably conservative base.

Prestonwood Baptist Church, a multi-site Southern Baptist megachurch, has its main campus in west Plano.

Barbara Staff, a co-manager of Ronald Reagan's crucial 1976 primary victory over U.S. President Gerald Ford, resides in Plano. So does the Moderate Republican Van Taylor, the U.S. Representative for Texas' 3rd congressional district who faces opposition from a conservative woman, Suzanne Harp, in the March 1, 2022, Republican primary.
