Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder was an American author best known for writing the series of books including Little House on the Prairie, which also became a popular television show. The books were fictionalized accounts based on her memories of her early family life, growing up in the wilderness in the midwestern United States.

Biography[edit]

Laura Elizabeth Ingalls was born on February 7, 1867 to Charles Phillip Ingalls and Caroline Quiner Ingalls. The family moved several times moved throughout the Midwest, to Kansas, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Laura became a schoolteacher and was married to Almanzo James Wilder, on August 25, 1885, at the age of 18. In 1932 she published the first of the Little House series of books.[1][2]
