St Kilda is an archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean, and a part of Scotland. It lies 41 miles WNW of Griminish Point. In 1901 the St Kilda group had a population of around 150, but the last of these were evacuated in the 1930s. There is now an RAF missile tracking station on Hirta (also called St. Kilda), the largest island of the group. Other islands in the St Kilda group are Levenish, Hamalan, Dun, Soay, Am Plastair, Soay Stac, Boreray, Stac Lee and Stac an Armin. The islands are owned by the National Trust for Scotland.
