Sonoo is a small village of 4665 hectares in Jaisalmer Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Sonoo depends on JAISALMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Sonoo is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Sonoo's pin code is 345001[4], and village code is 02021600. The area of Sonoo is segregated as 3555.01 hectares unirrigated, the 534.77 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 575.66 hectare area not available for cultivation.
Sonoo has One post office (Sonu B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Sonoo has One bank and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.
The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Sonoo is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 2205 and has total administration over 366 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.
- Sonoo has 402 children, 194 boys and 208 girls.
- Scheduled caste counts for 599 (27.17%) males constitute 321 (14.56%) of the population and females 278 (12.61%).
- Scheduled tribe counts for 114 (5.17%) males constitute 61 (2.77%) of the population and females 53 (2.40%).

Employment[edit]
According to a census 2011 report, 619 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 470 male, 149 female with 392 (63.33%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 339 males and 53 females. 28 males and 1 female are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 13 male and 27 female agricultural labor. 227 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jaisalmer to sell blankets and make their living.
