Oxfordshire is a county in central southern England, named after the famous university city of Oxford.

Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire are the location of the region of England known as the Cotswolds, well known for its distinctive pale stone buildings.

Winston Churchill is one of Oxfordshire's most famous sons, and is buried in the churchyard at Bladon, on the edge of the Woodstock estate (owned by the Churchill family) where he was born. The boundaries of Oxfordshire were revised in 1974 to incorporate a large section of the adjoining county of Berkshire (including Berkshire's county town, Abingdon, and the railway centre of Didcot).
