Disputation

From Conservapedia

Disputation was formal scholastic debate in medieval universities in Europe. The subject would be agreed upon beforehand, usually on a subject of theology, and the rules of debate were based on formal procedures. Typically it would be part of a public ceremony, such as an ecclesiastical celebration.

The most famous disputation was "The Disputation of Martin Luther on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences," commonly known today as The 95 Theses.
