Mycena subcyanocephala is a species of fungus,^[1] which has its habitat in the tropical parts of Taiwan. It has been spotted eight times. Mycena subcyanophala is currently the smallest species of fungus in the world. It is only 1 mm or 500 µm tall, and is also about 100 to 250 µm wide. Mycena subcyanocephala also gathers a lot of humidity.^{[citation needed]}

Mycena subcyanocephala is from the family Mycenaceae. The closest species to Mycena subcyanocephala is Mycena interrupta.

The word Mycena is connected to the Greek word mykēs (μύκης, "mushroom"). Thus, Pausanias ascribes the name to the legendary founder Perseus, who was said to have named it either after the cap (mykēs) of the sheath of his sword, or after a mushroom he had plucked on the site.

Description

M. subcyanocephala, is a lignicolous species of section Spinosae, having tomentulose fruitbodies, a white cap with pale blue tone, a thin-walled pileiocystidia and caulocystidia, smooth round-headed cheilocystidia, inamyloid basidiospores, and 2-spored basidia.^[2]
