Humberto Castelo Branco

Humberto Castelo Branco (1897–1967) was the conservative president of Brazil from 1964 to 1967.

Biography[edit]

During the Second World War Castelo Branco fought in Italy against the Germans.

Castelo Branco took power on March 31, 1964, after he removed unpopular president João Goulart. On April 11, 1964, Castelo Branco was officially declared as interim-president. He resigned in July 1967.[1]

Castelo Branco died in a plane crash on July 18, 1967.[2]
