Newra is a small village of 4193 hectares in Osian Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Newra depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Newra is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Newra's pin code is 342303[4], and village code is 01939200. The area of Newra is segregated as 133.4 hectares irrigated area, 3149.43 hectares unirrigated, the 24.95 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 885.06 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Newra has One post office (Neora B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Newra has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Newra is a census village in the district of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 4434 and has total administration over 725 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Newra has 865 children, 434 boys and 431 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 873 (19.69%) males constitute 457 (10.31%) of the population and females 416 (9.38%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 333 (7.51%) males constitute 149 (3.36%) of the population and females 184 (4.15%).

The workforce is 1145 male, 925 female with 1289 (62.27%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 956 males and 333 females. 573 males and 278 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 108 male and 10 female agricultural labor. 781 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
