Reduced Viscosity

In fluid dynamics, the reduced viscosity of a polymer is the ratio of the relative viscosity increment ([math]\displaystyle{ \eta_i }[/math]) to the mass concentration of the species of interest. It has units of volume per unit mass.[1]

The reduced viscosity is given by:

[math]\displaystyle{ \frac{\eta_i}{c} }[/math]

where [math]\displaystyle{ \eta_i }[/math] is the relative viscosity increment given by [math]\displaystyle{ \eta_i = \frac{\eta - \eta_s}{\eta_s} }[/math] (Where [math]\displaystyle{ \eta_s }[/math] is the viscosity of the solvent.)[1]
