Voodoo, or Vodoun, is the name given to an occult system of magic and superstitious rites prevalent among certain peoples of African decent.[1]

A Voodoo Priest is a Houngan , a priestess is a mambo. A bokor is a practitioner of black magic.

A major application of Voodoo is healing using a combination of faith, and herbal medicine.

In voodoo worship, spirit possession of the worshiper by the gods (loa) is regarded as desirable.[2]
