School Clubs

From Conservapedia

School clubs are organizations at public school or private school devoted to a particular issue, which may be political, academic, religious, or otherwise. Typically schools require that the club have a faculty adviser as a condition for approving a new club, but if public schools allow some clubs then the Equal Access Act prohibits discrimination against pro-life or Christian clubs.

For example, in 2007 a 16-year-old high school student sued to obtain the right to start a pro-life club at Colonial Forge High School, which school administrators initially refused to allow. "The suit put a spotlight on an often-misunderstood legal arena involving religion in public schools. ... School officials, conceding they were wrong, officially recognized the club Oct. 24, and [the student] dropped the suit."[1]
