Adriaan Florenszoon Boeyens (born 2 March 1459 Utrecht ‒ 14 September 1523 Rome) became Pope Adrian VI (Hadrian VI) of the Roman Catholic Church in 1522. His real name was Adriaan Florenszoon. He is the only Dutchman to ever be Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
He studied at the Catholic University of Leuven, where he was ordained priest and became professor of theology, chancellor, and rector.[1]
