Farad

In physics, more particulary in electromagnetism, the farad (F) is the SI unit of capacitance,

where C is coulomb, V is volt, J is joule, N is newton, and m is meter. A farad is a huge capacitance, so more usual practical units are the microfarad (10⁻⁶ F), nanofarad (10⁻⁹ F), and picofarad (10⁻¹² F).

The unit is named in honor of Michael Faraday.
