1. This course is mostly over. Can you now identify a value in learning history? There are many, but the one that was most obvious to me is that you can look back and identify patterns (such as the swings in the parties of the presidents, which are surprisingly predictable).

Superb insight about the swings in the parties, and its predictable nature.

2. Was the United States right to enter World War II, and should we have entered sooner or later? I think the United States was spot on in the time of entering the war because:

   1.	The Japanese attacked us, and due to their religious obligations, they weren’t going to stop fighting.
   2.	The war sited an end to The Great Depression.
Terrific.

3. Which of the approaches in American history towards immigration do you like best, and why? I would encourage immigration to a point, and maybe allow a monthly or yearly limit to how many immigrants would be let in. But I would naturally discourage illegal immigration.

Good, though you might include something about history.

4. Pick out something from the "Roaring Twenties" and describe what you like about it. I like the advancement in music because without that, we'd all be listening a thousand or so different waltzes on our ipods...Thanks Scott (Joplin).

Ha ha ha. Good humor; good answer.

5. What is your view of the New Deal, and what might you have done differently in response to the Great Depression? The New Deal to me was a kind of false hope because government tried to make more jobs for people, but more than 1 out of 4 people were unemployed, and I just cannot see the government doing that.

Right.

6. Do you think we should have dropped the atomic bombs on Japan? Explain. Yes. I believe that we should have, for the reason that if we had kept on fighting, more deaths would have risen for both sides of the war.

Right again.

7. Please interpret and explain the cartoon, including an estimate of its date. (It was published by a paper in New Jersey years ago.) I can’t quite put my finger on the date of this one (maybe the mid 80s?), but I can tell you that this cartoon encompasses the House and Senate “giving” the President more power to dictate. But there is a problem; they made that stick way too big. I also like how it alludes to T.R.’s Big Stick quote.

Good, but not quite everything. It's about the New Deal from the 30s. (Minus 1). Good humor, though.
Excellent work. 69/70. Well done!--Aschlafly 21:44, 6 December 2008 (EST)
